Umakant has more than 18 years of experience in various fields of Information Technology and worked at different capacities in different International organizations. He last worked as Chief Technology Officer in CREAX Information Technologies (Oct 2000- Oct 2004), Bangalore. Before Joining CREAX, he was working as Manager Information Systems and Asia IT Coordinator (1996-2000) in ActionAid. Prior to that he had successfully worked as a Programmer, Senior Programmer, Data Analyst, Senior Systems Analyst and Systems Architect in DANIDA and other organisations.

Umakant has successfully managed various Domestic/ International software Development/ IT projects and headed groups of IT people in India and outside. He has managed small to large teams consisting of Developers, Administrators, Testers, Leaders and Managers. He managed to develop software products which are sold and used across the globe. He has sound knowledge and experience on Microsoft technologies, Java, Web technologies, Networking, Server Management, Application Integration, and Security. Besides he has vast research on TRIZ and IT patents.

Besides his post-graduation in Business Administration (MBA) with specialization in IT, he is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet (MCSE+I) from Microsoft, Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) and Master CNE from Novell, Certified Intranet Manager (CIM) from Novell, Certified Internet Professional (CIP) from Novell, Certified Internet Business Strategist (CIBS) and Certified Web Designer (CWD) from Novell, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Certified Software Test Manager (CSTM) from STQC, and holds many other global IT certifications to his credit.
